Let Your Body Find Its Own Weight

acupuncture, cupping, ear seeds and macrobiotic diet, held as one weight management programme in Central, Hong Kong.

Why weight gain will not shift, in Chinese medicine terms

A Chinese medicine practitioner does not begin with what you eat. She begins with whether your body can still transform it.

In Chinese medicine the spleen governs transformation. When it is depleted, what is left untransformed settles as dampness: heaviness, fog after lunch, a middle that will not settle. Add years of stress and metabolism slows. This is why two people eat the same and hold body fat differently, and why a weight loss plan built only on restriction fails.

What Traditional Chinese medicine weight loss actually is

Chinese medicine weight loss is not a faster diet. It restores digestion, sleep and the stress response until your weight settles on its own.

Acupuncture strengthens digestion and calms the nervous system. Cupping moves the stagnation dampness leaves behind. Ear seeds carry appetite regulation between visits. Macrobiotic diet rebuilds how you cook, so your digestive health holds the change.

In a Hong Kong Baptist University trial, seventy two overweight participants who had regular acupuncture over eight weeks lost meaningfully more weight than the control group. Acupuncture alone gives a modest result. Acupuncture with a real change in how you eat is what makes it hold.

Who this Chinese medicine weight programme is for

This is for you if the scale crept upward through perimenopause. If you are bloated most evenings. If stress has been your baseline so long your body stores it. If you have lost weight quickly before and watched every kilo return.

It is not for you if your weight loss goals are a number by a date. We will say so kindly, and early.

What happens in an acupuncture session

You begin with a constitutional assessment: pulse, tongue, and questions about digestion, sleep, cycle, energy and stress, because in Chinese medicine these are one conversation about your health.

Fine needles then go to points supporting digestion and metabolism. Cupping follows where useful. You rest twenty minutes. Ear seeds stay on three to five days.

Treatment plans differ by constitution. Bloating usually eases before the scale moves.

This programme does not include herbal medicine. Some constitutions respond, some do not, so we do not bundle it in. If your assessment suggests herbal medicine would help, our TCM doctors prescribes it separately.

YOUR Questions

Questions people ask about TCM weight loss

Macrobiotic eating builds meals around whole grains, seasonal vegetables, beans and sea vegetables, cooked simply and eaten warm. It is not vegan and it is not a calorie diet. It works by balance: adjusting the warming and cooling quality of what you eat to your constitution and to the season, which is why it sits so naturally beside Chinese medicine. Nothing is banned outright. Srdjan Dobic starts with what you already cook and shifts it, meal by meal, until your digestion does the work rather than your willpower.

Modestly alone, well in combination. Its value is regulating appetite, digestion, sleep and the stress that governs metabolic health.

There is no single best, because Chinese medicine treats patterns. Dampness, spleen deficiency and stress driven weight gain each need different work.

There is not one. Anyone promising speed is selling something. Chinese medicine offers weight that stays lost.

No. Ozempic acts on appetite hormones. Chinese medicine restores the systems regulating appetite and stress, so it does not stop when you stop.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practice that involves suctioning or vacuuming sections of the body. The cups are heated by swabbing rubbing alcohol on the bottom and then lighting the cup. It can also be done by placing an inverted cup over a flame to aid in suctioning.
