Liberation: A 9D Breathwork Gong Journey

You have talked about it. Perhaps for years, perhaps to someone very good at their job. You know exactly where it came from, why it took hold, and why it still has a say in how you react to things that should not matter. None of that knowing has moved it an inch.

The Practice

Begin Your Breathwork Journey

At some point the restriction stops coming from outside and starts being kept in place by you. The patterns that once protected you. The silence you learned to hold. The version of the story you stopped questioning. Liberation is freedom from that, from your own control and your own self-imposed limits, and it is not something you can think your way into. The body holds it, and the body responds to being moved rather than reasoned with.

Liberation is a 9D breathwork gong journey at The Inner Space, Balance Health Central. Sixty minutes of music-led breathwork, roughly forty of them actively breathing, and then a gong. The narrative is deliberately minimal. The music does the guiding, scored to carry each movement, so you stay in your body rather than in your head.

This is not rescue from outside, and it is not escape from what happened. Nobody will ask you to describe it. It is the moment the weight stops setting the terms: you decide what it meant, and who you become because of it. What becomes available then is the energy you have been using to hold on to the past, returned to you for the life ahead.

"It is the moment you stop being run by the weight you carry, and start deciding what it means and who you become because of it."

WHAT PEOPLE NOTICE

Everyone arrives carrying something different, so nobody leaves with the same lightness. These are what people name most often, in their words rather than ours.

Heat in the hands

Everyone arrives carrying something different, so nobody leaves with the same lightness. These are what people name most often, in their words rather than ours.

A loosened chest

The place most people turn out to have been holding, letting go without being asked to. Some describe it as a band coming off. It is often the part people did not know was tight until it was not.

Tears without a story

They arrive on their own and they pass. The room is dark, everyone is lying down, and this happens often enough that it is unremarkable to anyone but the person it is happening to.

A voice you had not heard

The release near the midpoint surprises most people. It is louder than expected and it is over in seconds. It is also optional. Plenty of people stay quiet and still find the peak moves what it needed to move.

Heavy limbs, quiet head

Through the gong. The pleasant kind of heavy, where getting up is possible but not appealing. The running commentary that most of us carry all day tends to go quiet here, and stays quiet for a while afterwards.

Lighter for days

Not euphoria. More the sense of having set down something you had stopped noticing you carried. Most people feel it for a week or two, which is part of why the journeys run monthly rather than occasionally.

THIS MAY RESONATE IF YOU

No previous experience is needed. No fitness, no flexibility, no yoga or breathwork background, and no familiarity with any of the language around this work. You are lying down the whole time. You set the depth yourself, and you can ease off at any point without leaving the journey, which is what makes a high intensity session workable for a first timer.

If you would rather talk it through before you come, you are welcome to book a free wellness consultation and ask whatever you need to ask.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Before you arrive.

Come ten minutes early so you are not walking in as the room settles. Wear something loose you can breathe in, and bring a layer for the gong, when body temperature drops noticeably.

During the session.

You lie down and the room dims. A short arrival, then gentle nasal breathing to let the body land, before it drops into deep connected mouth breathing, full and circular, with the emphasis on the inhale and no pause between one breath and the next. When the journey has closed, the gong sound healing begins.

After the session.

Most people are quiet and a little slowed down. Water, warmth, no rushing. If you can, walk for part of the way home and let the afternoon settle before you go back to your week.

Ongoing.

One journey moves something, and most people feel it for a week or two. A rhythm changes the baseline. Most people find monthly is where it settles, with the weekly Inner Space classes holding the same ground more gently in between.

Where You Will Be Held

The Inner Space, Balance Health

The Inner Space is our group sanctuary in Central, Hong Kong: bamboo, wood and natural materials, a room held for meditation, sound healing, breathwork and tea ceremony. It was built for this kind of nervous system work, where the quality of the room is not incidental to what becomes possible in it. Alongside it we practise acupuncture, Chinese medicine and hands-on therapy, so the class sits inside a whole approach to healing rather than beside one. Balance Health is a wellness centre rather than a spa, and every therapy here is chosen for what it changes rather than how it feels in the moment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Themed 9D journeys at The Inner Space are HKD 780 per session, booked through Mindbody. The Inner Space Reset Pass covers four classes across all sessions with the fifth as a gift, which brings the cost down for anyone attending regularly. Private one to one sessions with Judy Xu are priced separately, and a free wellness consultation costs nothing if you want to talk first.

The 9D journey closes itself. The mouth shuts, the breath comes back to the nose, and the body is given a long stretch to settle on its own. The gong sound healing comes after that, once the journey has ended, and it holds the room open for longer than the breath alone would. Forty active minutes leave a nervous system that will take whatever time it is offered, and the gong is what offers it.

No, and this is one of the better places to start. The music leads rather than the instruction, and the intensity is titrated: you move in and out as you feel led, going harder when ready and easing back when you need to, without leaving the journey. No fitness or flexibility is assumed, you are lying down throughout, and willingness is the only requirement.

Most people do. The room is dark, everyone is lying down with their eyes closed, and there is no partner work and no sharing circle unless you want to stay and talk afterwards. Coming alone is the norm rather than the exception, including for a first journey.

9D breathwork pairs conscious connected breathing with a nine-layer sound environment: harmonic scoring, binaural layers, and a guiding voice used sparingly. The breath brings the body into an activated state where feeling moves more readily than thought, and the sound holds you there. At The Inner Space it is always paired with a gong close.
