New Years are for new resolutions. Some of the most popular New Year's resolutions are to lose weight, exercise more and eat healthy. Well after all the festivities, it is the best time to take off all the toxicities that came with the holidays. Let's detox!

The Toxins & How Do We Get Them


There are five toxins that can weaken our mind, body and spirit. These toxins are: 

  • heavy metals
  • environmental and organic chemicals 
  • food substances and additives
  • metabolic waste products
  • emotional toxins

If not properly dealt with, these toxins can affect our body and put us at risk for diseases and chronic inflammation. 

What is inflammation? Inflammation is the body's initial healing response to infection or damaged tissue. Inflammation is important to maintain balance in our body and protect us from pathogens and other toxins. However, if inflammation persists and becomes a chronic inflammation, it is a potentially powerful contributor to other health conditions caused by tissue injury. 

What are the Causes and Symptoms of Chronic Inflammation?

There are various causes of chronic inflammation. It could be due to stress, poor diet, free radical production and more.  We know that we have inflammation when we are experiencing the following symptoms:

  • general fatigue
  • frequent mouth ulcers
  • occasional chest and abdominal pain
  • stiff achy joins and muscles
  • elevated blood pressure
  • frequent upper respiratory infections
  • chronic skin conditions
  • inflammatory bowel disease
  • rheumatoid arthritis

How Does Detox Help?

Detox and fasting gives us a fast pass to health improvement. These methods help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, balance your hormones and blood sugar and improve your immune system. When you detox, you also get rid of bacteria and virus in your system. Your blood pressure gets reset. When fasting and detoxification are successfully done, these will lead to:

  • increased energy levels
  • better metabolism
  • improved mood and clarity
  • improved digestion
