Baby Massage: Bonding Time

Want to improve your baby’s health, mood and sleep? Want your baby to cry and fuss less? Join this baby massage workshop!

Baby Massage is done by millions of parents worldwide. A quality bonding time between parents and babies. A time where babies can relax and express themselves and parents can know their baby more. Through positive touch and warm non-verbal communication, you will learn how to perform soothing massage strokes and principles of yoga and reflexology.

Baby massage can bring about a wealth of benefits to both babies and parents alike:

  • Slowly arouse the baby’s central nervous system
  • Through soothing, rhythmic movements that help ease and regulate your baby’s heart rate and breathing
  • It helps your baby loosen up and relax: the result is less crying and better quality sleep.
  • Stimulate your baby’s circulatory and digestive system to provide the ultimate relief from wind, colic, constipation and teething discomfort.
  • For parents, this is a fantastic way for you to form a deeper connection to your baby and be more receptive to your baby’s needs
  • It increases parent’s, other family members and carers’ self confidence

This course consists of 2 sessions with a certified massage therapist. Each session covers massage, instruction, advice and discussion. Join us and learn more about improving your baby’s health with tea and a snack at Playground on June 13 and June 22 from 9:30am – 11:00am.

Summer Season Health Care with Chinese Medicine

What is it about?

How should we take care of ourselves on hot summer days? In traditional Chinese medicine, we adapt to the season, prevention and protection of your body and mind. Everyone knows the saying ‘a calm heart keeps you cool’ – and this is why summer season pays special attention to clearing and cooling the mind: We use the energetic power of Qi to achieve happiness and harmony.

Through this course of lectures, the Chinese medicine practitioner will share with you practical and valuable summer-related lifestyle advice, cooling herbal tea recipes as well as knowledge on massage, acupressure points and energy channels. This will help you to stay relaxed while naturally ensuring your body’s health and keeping yourself beautiful from inside to outside!

Why is it important?

In 2016, summer has started on May 5th according to the lunar calendar. The first summer month is connecting spring and summer: All living things are growing, warmth is spreading, thunderstorms are becoming more common and crops on the fields are beginning to sprout. It won’t be long until Summer Solstice will be celebrated on June 21th!

The temperatures will continue to rise, and the real heat will arrive 20 to 30 days after summer solstice, from mid-July until mid-August. During this time, many people suffer from “summer diseases”, such as demotivation, exhaustion and a blurred mind due to the excessive heat. More the reason to stay active and prepare yourself early on for the hot days coming up!

Lecture’s agenda

1. Summer health care in Chinese philosophy
2. Common diseases in summer and how to treat them
3. Cooling herbal tea therapies
4. Easy energy channel massage and acupressure
5. Nutrition and lifestyle habits
6. Questions and answers
