Ear Acupuncture / Auricular Acupuncture
About Ear Acupuncture
Also known as auricular acupuncture and auriculotherapy, ear acupuncture was first used in the early 1970s in France for treating sciatica and other pains. It is based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine concept that ear acupuncture points stimulation will send a signal to the brain. The vrain will then send signals to the specific body parts or areas that they are being treated. Clinical studies compare it to reflexology; only it is done on the ear.
It is now employed extensively throughout the world and the application extended to weight loss, infertility, anxiety and insomnia. Health issues are revealed in auricular diagnosis by looking at the external part of the ear. In a 2007 Pain Management clinical study, researchers found that changes in ear acupuncture points or specific ear points occur when there are internal disorders in the body.
These changes include decreased cutaneous electrical resistance, tenderness and discoloration. Once diagnosis is done, auricular acupuncture will be performed by a registered Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat the patient.
Auricular Accupuncture Benefits
This ear seeds treatment is safe, noninvasive, and generally painless. As they are small and barely noticeable, patients enjoy the convenience and continual stimulation. Recent clinical research showed its effectiveness in patients who are fighting substance addiction. One advantage that auricular acupuncture has over the common medical treatment is that it is non-addictive as compared to contemporary medicines that are used to treat symptoms like anxiety and withdrawal.
Ear acupuncture is effective when dealing with chronic pain such as pain from trauma, infections, nerve disorders, post-surgery and tumors. It is also used to treat infectious diseases such as ear infection, tonsillitis, pneumonia, rheumatoid arthritis, enteritis, pharyngitis and more. It is also a popular Traditional Chinese Medicine method to treat allergies, endocrine system disorders and epidemic diseases like flu, fever, dysentery, whooping cough and others.
